3:00, Sunday, Sept. 6, Fort Recovery State Museum will present, Fort Jefferson: Past, Present and Future. Joe Beatty of Houston Texas, a fifth generation descendant of Ensign Samuel and Captain Erkuries Beatty, officers in St. Clair’s Army will be the featured speaker. This public presentation will be held at the Cooper Pavilion 401 W. Milligan St. Fort Recovery (behind the swimming pool). Out of care for the health of our visitors, volunteers, staff and community at large, Fort Recovery Museum will close to the public effective Saturday, March 14, 2020. As a part of the Ohio History Connection site system we will re-open according to their direction. Individuals who have registered for upcoming events will be contacted regarding the rescheduling or cancellation of these programs.

This free online application while you are visiting the battlefield and in conjunction with 15 wayside exhibits Or you can use the Battlefield Tour Story Map to get a feel for the battlefield when you are not able to visit. We hope you enjoy this online interpretation of our history!

Good News - Ohio History Fund grant!

The Fort Recovery Historical Society, in collaboration with Ball State University, has been chosen as one of 10 applications to be funded by the Ohio History Fund. The grant will be used to create an on-line StoryMap of the museum's prehistoric collection. We have always regretted that this impressive display is not handicapped accessible - two flights of stairs separate it from the first floor (which is handicapped accessible). With the creation of this StoryMap, visitors will be able to "view" our prehistoric collection on-line and while at the museum on an iPad. The project is to be completed by summer 2021. Thanks to all those Ohio Taxpayers who checked The Ohio History Fund when paying their income taxes. 

This project made possible in part by a grant from the Ohio History Connection’s History Fund.
